A Note from Father

12-05-2021Weekly ReflectionFr. Charlie Goraieb

Dear Friends,

This letter will be more of a potpourri of thoughts and invitations.

I know this coming week is a busy week in a very busy season. But I want to urge all of you to take advantage of our Advent Mission that will begin on Monday night. Many of you are familiar with the Friars and their charisms. They understand how important healing is to our merciful God.

On Wednesday we celebrate the Solemnity of Immaculate Conception. It is a Holy Day of Obligation, so yes, we are all required to attend Holy Mass; but this great day is one of joy and hope for us all. Those of us who have been preparing to make (or renew) our consecration to Mary that day will do so immediately following the 7pm Mass.

By now you’ve all noticed the Tapestry of St Joseph that adorns our sanctuary. It was pointed out to me by a parishioner that traditionally, St Mary should be on the other side of the tabernacle so that she is at Jesus’ right hand. With that in mind, we have switched the tapestries. If you’d like to read an article describing this tradition, here is a link:

Finally, this is the time of year when many of you are looking for opportunities to make a contribution to the Church. This year has been a challenging time for us financially. Our cash $ow has been very tight, and we’re still recovering from the unexpected timing of our portion of the Shea Grant coming due. All of this is to say that your Christmas gift to the parish will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

May God bless you and your family,

Fr Charlie
