Dear Friends,

You are invited to join me and many others who will be making (or renewing) their consecration to Mary on December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. We will be using the book, 33 Days to Morning Glory, by Fr Michael Gaitley with the preparation beginning on Saturday, November 5th. In case you don’t have a copy of his book, we have the simplified version available to you at no cost. They can be found in the Church and at the offices.

I cannot stress strongly enough the great spiritual benefits of making this consecration to Our Blessed Mother. Of all the saints who are with the Lord in Heaven, she, above all, can lead us into the Heart of her Son and obtain for us the graces we need to live our vocation on earth. If you’ve already made the consecration, please don’t pass up the opportunity to renew it. You will find that, like an old friend you haven’t seen in a while, it is a great blessing to get caught up.

In an article entitled “Mom Imposes a “Screen Detox” and it Changed Her Family’s Life for the Better” by Jenifer Sako, Molly DeFrank describes the negative impact screens were having on her young children. Even though she restricted them to an hour a day, it muted their creativity, caused grumpiness, fighting and whining. She decided to pull the plug completely.

They protested for a short time, but then moved on. She
felt as though she had gotten her kids back. They went from screen-dependent to cooperatively playing, creating and even making their own “school.” Books, art and playing outside are now he kid’s preferred entertainment. She was amazed at how easy the transition was. --Parents, take notice! 

Fundraising for the new chapel is going remarkably well. As of this writing we are at 82.5% of our goal of $800K. In two weeks, I will be speaking at all of the Masses asking everyone to please make a donation. There will be pledge cards available. I am asking each of you to prayerfully consider how much you are able to pledge over 2 years. For some that might be $5,000 or $10,000. For others it might be $2,000 or even $1,000. And still some others might not be able to afford more than a one-time gift. If you can give a large amount or simply the “widow’s mite,” my top priority is having everyone on board.

Whether we can see it now or not, every member of our parish is going to benefit from having a perpetual adoration chapel. It is going to have a transformative effect on our whole parish.
