Merry Christmas Season and Happy New Year
by Fr. Robert Aliunzi | 12/28/2024 | Weekly ReflectionDear Friends,
Even though we have just celebrated the birth of our Lord Jesus, I would still like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. Indeed, as we come to the end of this year, my heart is filled with gratitude for the abundant blessings we have received as a parish, as a family, and as individuals. However, at individual levels, this Christmas celebration may never have been the same for some of you because of the loss of a dear one or due to other circumstances.
There are some hearts in our community that are broken on that Christmas morning when that one special person who used to brighten our day was not there to share a meal or even open their gifts with us. My heart goes out in sympathy and prayer to you all for your loss. Let us take this opportunity to remember that even in these darkest hours of loss, there is still light, a light that is brighter than that great star over Bethlehem, which can take us to the place where we need to be.
May that innocent little baby born for us in Bethlehem heal our brokenness and loneliness. May He remove any anger and hurt we may be feeling and fill us with the peace and strength we need not just to move forward but to reclaim the life and joy that is ours as individuals and as a community of our Lady of Mt. Carmel. As the community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the greatest of these blessings that we have received this year, to me, is the groundbreaking for the ongoing construction of our perpetual adoration Chapel.
Dear parishioners, as you might have seen, the construction of our chapel is progressing very well. The exterior is already built. Inside, the drywall, electrical, and plumbing are close to completion. Construction is expected to be completed by early March 2025. I am so excited! As we move into the final phase of the building process, we have a few final items that need to be purchased. There are opportunities I would like to offer for you to purchase these items in memory of a loved one. If you do, their names will be inscribed alongside those items or on them.
The following are the items for purchase
- Two stained glass window boxes
- Two stained glass windows
- Two candelabra
- A Holy Water font
- Sacred Art and a Crucifix
We have created a digital giving platform for you to purchase these items or donate towards them through the link below. Alternatively, you can also come and pay directly at the parish office. We greatly appreciate your generosity towards this project, and I cannot wait to have our chapel finalized, blessed, and ready for our perpetual adoration to begin! God bless you all most abundantly, and once again, Happy New Year to you all.
