Our Feast Day Celebration is around the corner

07-14-2024Weekly ReflectionFr. Robert Aliunzi

Dear Friends,

As I pointed out in my last article, the Feast Day of our Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, is indeed around the corner. This is our 92nd Anniversary and since the founding of our Parish in 1932, (although our current Church was built in 1968), we have celebrated this great Feast in various small and big ways. This year, we shall celebrate it in a rather moderate way. However, despite that, we all know that to better celebrate an important Feast, a proper preparation is always necessary. In our case, we have already begun this preparation with the Novena on Thu, Jul 11 which will go up to Fri, Jul 19.

Each evening of the Novena begins with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by a prayer specific to each day, then a moment of silent Adoration and concludes with Benediction. During the Novena, we shall also offer your written prayer intentions that have been collected in the designated basket located at the entrance of the east door. If you have not yet dropped off your prayer intentions, please, you can still do so.

Even though our actual Feast falls on Tue, Jul 16, we shall Celebrate the day on Sat, Jul 20, with the evening Mass dedicated to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. The Mass will be preceded by our children processing and offering flowers to our Mother Mary. The readings and reflections for that liturgy will be specific to our Feast Day. At the end of the Mass, we shall also do the Investiture ceremony with the scapular for those who have not been invested before. To conclude the day, our Vincentians will be offering some light refreshments outside the Church that day and after every Mass on Sunday as well.

However, I would like to remind and invite you all to an inspiring talk on the evening of the actual Feast Day itself, Tue, Jul 16 at 7:00pm before the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. We are honored to have an inspirational speaker that evening to speak to us about Mother Mary as part of our preparation for the Feast Day. Our speaker will be Nancy Lane. Nancy, who is from the Midwest but now residing in Phoenix, is a Leadership, Faith and Personal Growth Speaker, Trainer and Coach. She has spoken widely around the nation. Please, come and join me for an inspiring evening with Nancy.

Happy Feast to you all!

I love you!
