The Parish Census

02-24-2024Weekly ReflectionFr. Robert Aliunzi

My Dear Friends,

In one of my articles several weeks ago, I indicated that one of my focuses for this year will be on emphasizing Stewardship as a way of life here in our parish. However, in order to better plan for the parish, I also pointed out that we shall be conducting a census in order to determine the size and needs of our parish. This is because, over these last few years, we have navigated through many transitions, including the Covid-19 pandemic, the post-pandemic, and multiple leadership transitions in our parish. These changes have resulted in a series of minor changes in virtually every part of our Parish Community.

However, these changes have also presented us with an opportunity to assess the needs of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and how we, as a family in faith, can realign our efforts to better serve the needs of our Parish and School Community.

After much prayer and consultation with the Pastoral Council and my Parish Leadership Team, we have determined that it is essential for our community to conduct a census. This is because, over these last few years, our families have changed; children have grown up and moved out of the house, loved ones have passed away, babies have been born, and we have all grown a little older. These changes in our lives merit a counter-response to the ever-changing pastoral needs of our Parish Community.

Therefore, during March, I will be requesting all our families here at OLMC to complete an online census form. The census will begin on March 9th and 10th and our Parish staff and volunteers will be available to help you and to answer any questions you may have. Next week there will be a video from me with more details.

Should you require assistance, you may contact the Parish Office via phone at (480) 967-8791 or visit us during regular hours of operation. Monday—Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm, closed Friday.

We need your help! We are asking each of your families to participate in the Parish Census. We encourage all our registered and non-registered families to take this opportunity to help us tailor Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and its activities to our community’s specific needs.

Thank you for your cooperation!

I love you!
